Airborne Assault Museum
The Military Medal was awarded until 1993 to non commissioned personnel (ie ranks other than commissioned officers) of the British Army for bravery in battle on land.
It was also previously awarded to non commissioned ranks of some Commonwealth countries.
The medal was replaced by the Military Cross following the harmonisation of the gallantry award system in 1993.
