Tony O’Toole enlisted into the Junior Leaders, Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) from September 1986 for a year.He joined 23 Parachute Field Ambulance (23 PFA) in September 1987 and undertook Pre Para in the October/November. Pte O’Toole completed Pegasus Company in January 1988 and gained his wings in the February aged Seventeen and a half.
Whilst serving with 23 he took part in exercises in the UK, Germany, Kenya, and Holland, he also took part in `Operation Orderly'- the London Ambulance Strike (1989-90).
In 1991 Pte O’Toole transferred to the Royal Signals and served for three years which included attachments to 5 Airborne Bde with 244 Sig. Sqn (Air Support) and exercises in the UK, Denmark, Turkey and Greece.
