Back to Airborne Assault Museum at IWM Duxford Photographs

This mannequin was concieved to represent a member of 2 PARA just after the Battle of Plaman Mapu in 1965.

Museum staff posed for the correct position - to show a GPMG gunner having water and a cigarette immediately after the battle.

A suitable mannequin was then sourced, and equipped with the correct boots (BATA jungle boots), uniform (aretex shirt and tropical trousers), webbing (44 Pattern) and weapon (GPMG).

The mannequin was then weathered to look battle worn and then added to the display.
