Sergeant Hermanus Bertram de Leur was the son of Hermanus Bertram Rupert Alphonso and Annie Matilda de Leur, and husband of Mrs Eva Lilian de Leur of Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex.
He served with 1st Parachute Battalion, and took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden. He died on 20 September 1944, aged 29 years old and is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
