Gerald Alexander Wheatley was born in Guildford.After volunteering for airborne forces, Lance Corporal Wheatley was posted to the 6 (Airborne) Divisional Provost Company, Royal Military Police Corps.

He served in Palestine and died on 21 August 1947 and is now buried in Khayat Beach War Cemetery, Israel.
