Leslie Charles Blackmore was the son of Henry James Blackmore and Lilian Rose Blackmore of Bedminster, Bristol. He enlisted into the General Service Corps before volunteering for airborne forces.Gunner Blackmore was posted to 2 (Airborne) Forward Observation Unit, Royal Artillery (2 FOU).

He served in Palestine and died on the 24 March 1947 and is now buried in Khayat Beach War Cemetery, Israel.
