Following service in the RAF Regiment and REME, Viv joined Cardiff Detachment of 144 Parachute Field Ambulance in the late sixties as a Driver with the RCT.
Viv retired from 144 PFA during the early eighties.
According to his jump instructor Viv was:
" Fair performer who overcame fear of confidence training aids in the hanger. Improved rapidly during practical parachute phase of the course" & " Completed satisfactory"
During his service he spent time on attachment with 23 PFA, 4 Para and 1 Para.
He taught many to drive, throughout the armed forces, both ordinary and HGV in preparation for their licences.
