David Harry Briggs enlisted into The General Service Corps.Private Briggs volunteered for airborne forces and undertook Parachute Course 167 at RAF Ringway from 11 to 23 June 1945.

After initially being posted to The Parachute Regiment’s Reserve Battalion he was posted to the 8th (Midlands) Parachute Battalion.
