Private Sydney Stringer Walton, from Knutsford, Cheshire, served with the 8th Parachute Battalion and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.Pte Walton died on 6 June, aged 26 years old. He is now buried at Herouvillette New Communal Cemetery, Herouvillette, near Caen, Normandy.
