Harry Brayton Weatherell was the son of Harry and Sarah Weatherell and the husband of Greta Weatherell, of Shildon, County Durham. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for Airborne forces.
Gunner Weatherell successfully completed glider training and was posted to HQ Troop, 1 Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Gnr Weatherell was Captain D Randall's driver, and was killed when his jeep was shot up in Oosterbeek on 19 September 1944, aged 28, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
