Private Thomas John Hopkins, son of Joseph Thomas and Tessie Alice Mary Hopkins, of Trecenydd, Caerphilly, Glamorgan, served with 8th (Midlands) Parachute Battalion. He took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy, during Op Overlord.Private Hopkins died on 6 June 1944, aged 19 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
