Private Alfred Stanley Hope, son of Fred and Lily Hope, of Blackburn, Lancashire, served with 16 Parachute Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps. He was attached to 2nd Parachute Battalion and parachuted into the Battle of Arnhem during Op Market Garden.His was killed during the battle, although his date of death was never verified between 17 September (the First Drop) and 25 September 1944. He was 24 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
