Major John Henry Vine Hall was the son of Percy Newman and Cora A Hall, of Beaumont, Jersey, Channel Islands. He had an M.A., LL.B. (Cantab.) and was professionally trained as a Solicitor (ex-Chairman of the United Law Society). He served with 1st Parachute Battalion and took part in the North African campaign, during Op Torch, and was awarded a Military Cross during his military career.Major Hall died on 12 March 1943, aged 32 years old. He is now buried at Tabarka Ras Rajel War Cemetery, Tunisia.
