Back to 50th Indian Parachute Brigade

Operation Firepump was an airborne operation undertaken by 11 men from the 50th Parachute Brigade under command of Captain GEC Newland of the 153 Parachute Battalion. The party included 5 Gurkhas from the 153 and 3 Brits from the 151. Its goal was to secure and repair Fort Hertz in Burma to make use of it as an airfield. Its secondary goal was to offer much needed relief to the Operation Puddle party, who had marched 150 miles through jungle and were now very low on rations.
