Stephen George Morgan enlisted on 8 July 1943, four days before his 18th birthday.After sixteen weeks training with the Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry in Colchester he volunteered for airborne forces.
He went to RAF Ringway and undertook parachute training course 106, which ran from 6 to 16 March 1944. The instructors’ report states ‘Morgan: Diligent, quick – responsive good performer’.
Pte Morgan was eventually posted to the 2nd Parachute Battalion and took part in Operation Market Garden, where he was captured and held as a prisoner of war.
