Step-in smock, The Rego Clothiers 1942 officially labelled the 'Jackets Parachutists'

With the introduction of British Airborne Forces specialist clothing was needed, this smock was a direct copy of the 1940 German Fallschirmjager 'Knochensack' or bone sack.

It was designed to be stepped into and pulled up over the body but was replaced in 1942 with the Denison smock.

On this style of smock you will notice the 'NEWEY' press studs and 'Lightning' zipper are chrome/nickle which were used with the Air Ministry clothing such as flying suits etc.  Upon the introduction of the Denison smock the press studs and zippers were made of brass.
