Private William Ronald Davies was the son of John Lemon Davies and Alice Jane Davies, of Neasden, Middlesex.

He enlisted into the Rifle Brigade in 1942 and volunteered for airborne forces in 1943.

Pte Davies qualified as a military parachutist after attending a course at RAF Ringway which ran from 26 April to 4 May 1943.

He was then posted to the 1st Parachute Battalion in North Africa as a reinforcement and took part in the Sicily landings in July 1943.

Pte Davies died on 14 July 1943, aged 19 years, and is now buried in the Catania War Cemetery, Sicily.
