"More appeals for news of missing Midland men have reached the ‘Evening Despatch’.

They are (top left) Jose Maria Irana [Irala]. Missing at Arnhem, adopted son of Mrs. M. Woodbine, of 24 Meadow-road, Priory Estate, Dudley.

Pte. William. J. Hallett (top right), whose mother lives at 4/80 Bell Barn-road, Edgbaston, was reported missing in Italy.

Sergt. Gordon. A. Worrall (bottom left), whose mother lives at 26 Mostyn Villas, Witton-street, Stourbridge, was captured at Salerno, but no news of him has been received since.

L.A.C. Barrett (bottom right), of 26 Haddon-road, Beeches Estate, Great Barr, who was one of the lucky few to escape from Singapore after the island’s surrender."
