Private Walter Thomas Henry Whitmore, son of Thomas Henry and Adeline Clara Whitmore, of Netherton, Dudley, Worcestershire, served with 1st Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.
He died on 17 September 1944, aged 24 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
