Sergeant Richard A Adams

Richard Allen Adams, son of Richard and Pyarea Adams, of Herne Hill, London, enlisted in the General Service Corps and then volunteered for airborne forces. Sergeant Adams successfully completed Glider Pilot training and was posted to E Squadron, 2nd Wing, Glider Pilot Regiment, Army Air Corps, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Sgt Adams’s was killed in action on 18 September 1944, aged 19, and was given a field burial in the grounds of Wolfheze Psychiatric Hospital. He was reinterred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 24 August 1945.
