Private Malcolm L Metcalfe

Malcolm Llewellyn Metcalfe, son of Charles Llewellyn and Alice Maud Metcalfe, enlisted in the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) and then volunteered for the airborne forces.

Private Metcalfe qualified as a military parachutist on course 21/22 in August 1942 at RAF Ringway and was posted to the 1st Battalion, the Parachute Regiment and took part in Operation Torch in North Africa.

Pte.Metcalfe died of wounds on 18 December 1942, aged 24. He is commemorated on the Medjez-El-Bab memorial.
