OBITUARY SERGEANT K. GOLDSMITH 1st BN. THE PARACHUTE REGIMENT
It is with regret that we have to record the death in a parachute accident of Sergt. Goldsmith, which occurred in the Canal Zone in November, 1953.
Sergt. Goldsmith was one of the older members of The Parachute Regiment, having joined the 4th Battalion in 1945 in Palestine. He saw service with 4th/6th Battalion in Palestine and the 1st Battalion in Germany.
After a short period as a civilian, he rejoined the Colours, and-at the time of his death had served with the 1st Battalion continuously since November, 1948, in Germany, England and the Middle East.
When the going was rough or when things were difficult, Ken Goldsmith was at his best. Imperturbable, willing and always cheerful, he was one of those entirely reliable persons with whom it was always a pleasure to serve.
His is a loss the Regiment can ill afford. To his fiancée and family we offer our sincere sympathy.
Sgt Kenneth Cecil Goldsmith was buried at Moascar War Cemetery, Egypt.
