Lance Corporal Geoffrey W Waterworth

Geoffrey W Waterworth enlisted 10 February 1941. He served with 70th (Young Soldiers) Bn, The Warwickshire Regiment before volunteering for the airborne forces.

He completed his Parachute Course 13, which ran between 4 to 21 May 1942. Geoffrey is listed with the rank of Fusilier on this course report. He then was posted to The 1st Parachute Battalion in T Coy, 10 Platoon.  He served with this unit in N.Africa and Italy before taking part in Op. Market Garden.

Geoffrey died of wounds as a POW whilst being held in the household of the Ter Horst family aged 21 on 7 Oct 1944. He was initially buried in the house back garden, before being finally 'repatriated' to the main Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Plot 6, Row A, Grave 18.
