Christopher Terence Pendegrass son of Christopher and Ellathea Pendegrass of Newbury Park joined the Home Guard when he was sixteen and then enlisted into The Rifle Brigade.
Shortly after Private Pendegrass volunteered for airborne forces. He attended course 77 at RAF Ringway from 9 to 18 August 1943, where he was described as ‘Quiet refined type, interested, worked hard. Quite confident’.
He was posted to the 7th (Light Infantry) Parachute Battalion.
Private Pendegrass was killed during a training exercise on 4 January 1944, aged 18 years old.
