This is my grandmother Hilda Robinson nee Hastings in 1943 with her wartime sweetheart Christopher Pendegrass. She served in Postal & Telegraphic Censorship in London.
He forged his age to join the paratroopers. They had met at a dance at Ilford Town hall and enjoyed walks in Wanstead Park. He played the guitar to her and gave her a Utility radio set so she could listen to the latest songs. He tragically was killed in a training exercise aged 18 in 1944.
She kept this photo all her life and lived to be 90.
