Lieutenant Archibald Dorset Stewart Buckle was the son of Lewis M and Magdalen M R Buckle, of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and had Indian nationality when he joined the Army.
He served with 8th Punjab Regiment, before transferring to Airborne service. He was attached to 152nd (Indian) Parachute Battalion and took part in the Battle of Sanghak, near Kohima, Burma in March 1944.
Lieutenant Buckle died on 26 March 1944, aged 24 years old. He is now commemorated in a Joint Grave at Imphal War Cemetery, Manipur State, India.
