Staff Sergeant Alan Trevor Stear served in A Squadron, Glider Pilot Regiment.
S/Sgt Stear took part in the D Day landings in Normandy as first pilot, where he flew elements of the 6 AB Div HQ to Landing Zone N.
On landing, S/Sgt Stear was killed when the glider hit a brick farm building. He was aged 23.
S/Sgt Stear is now buried in Ranville Churchyard, near the War Cemetery, Normandy.
