Private Cox transferred from the Royal Ulster Rifles on the formation of 1st Parachute Brigade.
He attended Course 3 at RAF Ringway in December 1941, before joining A Company, 2 PARA.
Whilst with 2 PARA in North Africa, he was wounded, taken prisoner of war and transferred to Stalag 8B E/41 Camp, Lamsdorf.
