Albert Edward Pierce enlisted in the 2nd Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers and then volunteered for the airborne forces.
Private Pierce qualified as a military parachutist on course 21/22 in August 1942 at RAF Ringway and then was posted to the 1st Battalion, the Parachute Regiment and took part in Operation Torch in North Africa.
Pte Pierce was Killed in Action on 1 December 1942, aged 27. He is commemorated on the Medjez-El-Bab memorial.
