Private Sidney Mitchell

Sidney Mitchell enlisted in the Royal Artillery and then volunteered for the airborne forces.

Private Mitchell attended parachute course 20 at RAF Ringway from 27 July to 3 August 1942, was posted to the 1st Battalion, the Parachute Regiment and took part in Operation Torch in North Africa.

Pte Mitchell was Killed in Action on 5 February 1943, aged 28. He is commemorated on the Medjez-El-Bab memorial.
