The two privates are Robert Elmore and Kenneth Hughes, members of 225 Para Field Ambulance. The location is the MDS set up in a small quarry near to Amfreville, just north of Le Bas de Ranville where the 1st MDS was established.They are standing in front of a slit trench where they slept overnight.

Robert Elmore is on the left and Kenneth Hughes on the right - both members of 225 Parachute Field Ambulance. The location is the Quarry at L'Ecarde just north of Ranville and east of Amfreville. It was the location of the 2nd Main Dressing Station established by 225 PFA on 21st June 1944.
