Pat was born in 1937 and commissioned into The Parachute Regiment in 1958. Among his appointments were:

• 1968-70  OC 16 (Lincoln) Indep Coy PARA Regt
• 1971-73  OC A (?) Coy 1 PARA in NI for which he was awarded an MID
• 1973-74  GSO2 Int HQ UNFYCP for which he was awarded an MBE
• 1974-76  GSO2 SD HQ NEARELF
• 1981-84  CO 15 PARA (SV)

He retired in 1987. Pat sadly passed away 12 December 2025. He is survived by his wife Hermione and their two adult children Nick and Victoria. The funeral was held on Tuesday 13 January 2026 at 2:45pm at Basingstoke Crematorium.
