Airborne Assault Museum
The Queen's Commendation for Brave Conduct replaced the King's Commendation for Brave Conduct instituted by King George VI in 1939.
It is a gallantry award which recognises acts of bravery in non operational situations entailing risk to life.
The recipient of the award is entitled to wear a bronze oak leaf , similar to that worn for the mention in despatches, on the relevant campaign or war medal.
The award was replaced in 1994 by the Queen's Commendation for Bravery.
