Percival William Collett, son of William Turner and Janet Collett; husband of Edna Collett, of Wadborough, Worcestershire, enlisted in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and volunteered for Airborne forces.Private Collett successfully completed his glider training course and was posted to A Company, 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Pte Collett was killed in action on 19 September 1944, aged 21, by a shell from a self-propelled gun whilst trying to bring up a PIAT to deal with it. He was buried in the Arnhem Communal Roman Catholic Cemetery and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 27 August 1945.
