Sergeant Thomas Fowkes was the son of Thomas and Annie Mary Fowkes, of Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, and the husband of Nora Fowkes, also of Hucknall. He served with 11 Flight, E Squadron of 2nd Wing, Glider Pilot Regiment and took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.Sergeant Fowkes died on 23 September 1944, aged 23 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
