Charles 'Chuck' F Sim joined the Army on 16 October 1939. He served with 6th Fld Bty RA before volunteering for the airborne forces. 

He was parachute jump trained at RAF Ringway on Course 16. This course ran between 22 and 29 June 1942. The course report notes that there was only 1 minor injury reported after 655 descents. 

Chuck was then posted to The 1st Parachute Bn, T Coy, 11 Pln and was wounded in action during operations in N.Africa. On 30 August 1943 he was 'discharged' from the Army.
