Patrick Gordon Bulford was the son of Gordon J.E. Bulford and Phyllis Bulford, of Thrup, Oxfordshire. Lt Bulford served with 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry..
Patrick was the eldest of three brothers from Manor Farm Thrup, just north of Kidlington in Oxfordshire. The other 2 served as well John was an RAF Flying Sgt in Wellington bombers was shot down over the low countries in 1942 and spent the rest of the war as a POW and survived the long March. The youngest was Alan and he commissioned into the East Riding Yeomanry. Was awarded the MC for the crossing of the Rhine and went in to farm when he was de-mobbed.
Patrick was wounded quite soon after joining the battalion. He joined just after D-Day. The wound was only minor and after a short period of recovery he was back in the Battalion. He was given command of the Recce Platoon in August 1944. He was killed leading the recce Pl in an assault of a machine gun position 24 Aug 1944.
He was just aged 24 years old and is now buried in Beuzeville Communal Cemetery, France.
