George Wain was the son of George Henry Wain, and of Jane Wain, of Longnor, Derbyshire. Gunner Wain served with 3rd Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery, Royal Artillery where he served in Palestine.

He was killed on the 24 January 1946 and is now buried in Ramleh War Cemetery, Israel.
