Terry enlisted into the Coldstream Guards in 1961 as a Junior Guardsman, He Joined the Guards Parachute Company in 1965 and on completion of the GPC and Pegasus Company Hardening courses, he Joined 2 Troop in 1965. It was said that Terry had a great sense of humour and a brilliant gregarious character, he was also an outstanding Rugby Player. He did the last Guards Parachute Company Operational Tour of Borneo 1965/66, he was an exceptional Parachutist and completed the High Altitude (HALO) Low Opening Freefall course in Pau France  in 1967 with Terry Costello GG.

Later in life as a veteran he was on the GPA committee and a Trojan supporter of the Association attending many reunions right up to the one in Datchet Windsor in 2015 but sadly illness was detrimental to his life.

His funeral took place on Thursday 6 July 2023 at Newcastle Crematorium, West Road, Newcastle.
