Bruce Carstairs Jeffrey was the son of the Revd. Thomas Jeffrey MA, and of Caroline Jeffrey (nee Spy), of Edinburgh.Captain Jeffrey joined the Army in 1942 and was commissioned into the Royal Army Medical Corps on the 21 August 1943. He was a Resuscitation Officer in the 181st Airlanding Field Ambulance before being attached to 6 (The Royal Welch Fusiliers) Battalion, The Parachute Regiment.

He died on the 3 March 1946 in a swimming accident. Capt Jeffrey is now buried in Ramleh War Cemetery, Israel.
