Pte GA Bower was a member of the 10th Parachute Battalion. He had volunteered for the airborne forces from The Yorks and Lancs Regiment and was parachute jump trained at Karbit. 

He was the CO's driver and member of HQ Coy, MT Platoon. George was injured and captured during the battle for Arnhem Bridge. He was imprisoned in Fallingbostel POW camp XIB. His POW number was 117917.
