Francisco Ripo was the son of Dominico and Pepito Ripo, of West Ham, Essex; husband of Elizabeth Caroline (Aylot) Ripo. Married in July 1940 in West Ham. He enlisted in the Royal Army Service corps and volunteered for Airborne Forces.

Driver Ripo successfully completed glider training and was posted to 716 (Airborne) Light Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps, and took part in Operation Overlord (D Day landings).

Dvr Ripo was killed in action on 6 June 1944, aged 33, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
