Charles O’Brien was born in Eire and lived in Belfast, he enlisted in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and volunteered for Airborne Forces.
Lance Corporal O’Brien successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway and also completed glider training. He was posted to 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles, and took part in Operation Overlord (D Day landings).
L/Cpl O’Brien was killed in action on 7 June 1944, aged 23, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
