Patrick Leslie Carroll enlisted into the Coldstream Guards in Hull in April 1956 and volunteered for airborne forces in March 1957.L/Cpl ‘Les’ Carroll undertook parachute training course 443 which ran from 24 April to 20 May 1947 at RAF Abingdon. He was posted to No 1 (Guards) Independent Company.

He served in Cyprus and Jordan before being demobbed April 1959.
