Joseph Clayton enlisted into the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces in October 1945.Pte Clayton completed Parachute Course 184 at RAF Ringway in November 1945. After a spell with the AAC Holding Battalion, he went on to join 6th (Royal Welch) Parachute Battalion in Palestine.
Pte Clayton was demobbed in February 1948.
