David John Goldsmith enlisted into Junior Para Company in 1976.After P Company he was posted to B Company, 3 PARA in Germany for 3 years, whilst there L/Cpl Goldsmith did the first of his five tours of Northern Ireland.
Following promotion to Corporal, ‘Goldy’ Goldsmith moved to Anti-Tank Platoon and served with them in the Falklands Campaign.
After a couple of years at Para Depot from 1983, Cpl Goldsmith returned to Mortar Platoon, HQ Company, 3 PARA until he left the Army in 1999.
As well as active service on five tours of Northern Ireland and Operation Corporate, Cpl Goldsmith served with the UN in Cyprus.
