Charles E Taylor signed up for military service 25 February 1947 with Royal Leicestershire Regiment, No. 5 Platoon. 

Charles then volunteered for the airborne forces and joined  2 Para Battalion on  16 March 1949.

After this he was posted to 1st Regiment Lincolnshire 12 January 1952.
