Edgar completed Parachute Course 99 at RAF Ringway in Jan/Feb 1944 and then served with 3rd Parachute Battalion, HQ Company, Defence Platoon.
During Operation Market Garden in Arnhem in 1944, Edgar was wounded in the arm and taken prisoner.
