William Henry Thomas Vaughan was the son of William and Eliza Vaughan; husband of Josephine Violet Vaughan (Moore), he enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Driver Vaughan successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway and was posted to 398 (Airborne) Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Dvr Vaughan was killed in action on 13 June 1944, aged 35, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
