Gunner Stephen Lawson served with 210 Battery 53rd (The Worcestershire Yeomanry) Airlanding Light Regiment RA.He qualified as a military parachutist on course 152 which ran at RAF Ringway from 7 to 20 February 1945 shortly before Operation Varsity, the assault to capture the Rhine crossing into Germany.

Gunner Lawson died during the Operation on 24 March 1945 and is now commemorated on the Memorial at the Canadian War Cemetery, Groesbeek.
